Festival International de Jardins Hortillonnages of Amiens 2019.

Three glass plates held in place by three pieces of fabric. It is with this sober installation, emphasised by a corridor of mown grass, that the artist Floriane Pilon gives us food for thought on the development of the city of Amiens, in fact she has accentuated the force lines of the garden Reflection that was created by the collective Un102! in 2017. From the city famed for cloth making and then for the garment industry, Amiens became the city of textiles and then the metropolis, because it was born in the Bay of the Somme and therefore bathed by regular water currents. By introducing two materials, glass and fabric in the Hortillonnages where they would not have been expected, the artist highlights the inevitable interweaving of human activities with the context in which they take root. Made in the Hauts-de-France and dyed in Amiens by the Manufacture Royale de Bonvallet, the fabric, whose name Écorce provides the title for the exhibit, has one of its ends buried in the ground. Finally, the glass plays the role of the pillar, its transparency is a component of the landscape, but never masks it.
